Guildford, England-based artist Zachary Mason delivers a powerful, compelling rock sound on “Sweetheart,” a track exploring the profound wonder of love and relationships. Featuring a hard-hitting, ’80s-inspired crescendo and a high-flying guitar solo, the production balances psych-rock splendor with seasoned contributions from bassist John Thomasson (Little Big Town) and rock drummer Nate Barnes (Rose Hill Drive).
Memorable guitar tones, finding a balance between hazy and anthemic, move with solemn intrigue as Mason’s ghostly vocals emerge. “Sweetheart, woman, the one you call your own,” he lets out. “Treasure, you found her. A scorching-hot guitar solo unveils as the track’s final minute comes into view, finding a lovely ground between ’80s anthemic rock and ’90s alternative (like Gish-era Pumpkins). “Sweetheart” is another standout showcase in songwriting from Zachary Mason.
