Released today, “freeeeezing” is a catchy rocker from Austin-based artist Michael Sanders. Described as a “quirky song about getting cold because you can’t stop chewing ice,” its production stirs in its array of “I am freezing” vocal proclamations, sludgy guitar distortion, and more caressingly lush twangs. The mixture of sturdy acoustic strums and electric guitar moodiness conjures a nostalgic rock appeal, akin to that of The Smashing Pumpkins, while Sanders’ vocal ascent from brisk verses into a title-bearing hooky profession is equally compelling.
Sanders’ fantastic songwriting has caught our ears several times in the past, ranging from his 2025 album fuzzer (one of our favorites that year) to singles like “the wild.”
