DA-MOVEMENT – “24’s”

DA-MOVEMENT‘s enthralling Chicago street-soul anthem “24’s” delivers intriguing synths, precise verses, and a soulful chorus — making for a fantastic listen. This landmark release also marks the first time in hip-hop history that Never of Crucial Conflict and the late, legendary Johnny P appear together on a track. Meticulously restored for 2026, the historic West Side collaboration shines with a pristine new mix and a Grammy-winning Dolby Atmos spatial master. The production is built on a foundational track produced by Jason Pamon, who tragically passed away this past April, just as the collective geared up for this global launch.

Spacey synths and bass-y rhythms ease in as the track gets underway, bolstered by a wordless soulful vocal backing and riveting lead: “First verse, yo it’s not rehearsed / You can take your swag, throw it in the hearse.” An ensuing thematic emphasis on patience and perseverance delights, complemented by an added synth-touched eeriness as a consuming hook arrives. “Rolling on 24’s,” the vocals proclaim alongside glitzy synth passion, driving into the grittier verses in the “dreams in the backseat” entrancement, there showing fond shades of Big Boi.

A catchy, brisk vocal delivery enamors as the track’s final minute approaches, culminating in another excellent “rolling” hookiness. The production consistently compels in its alternations between fierce, fast-paced vocal verses and a soulfully magnetic chorus. “24’s” is another standout, historically notable hip-hop success from DA-MOVEMENT, who also caught our ears in March with the track “All Black Everything” (Remix).”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
