Thomas Lemmer - 'DREAMSCAPES II'

Thomas Lemmer‘s new album DREAMSCAPES II embraces slow listening through a carefully shaped world of ambient textures, delicate piano, and soundscape-rich electronics. Inspired by light, stillness, memory, and reflection, the album extends beyond its music through Lemmer’s original Polaroid artwork, creating an intimate visual counterpart to its contemplative sound.

“For me, DREAMSCAPES II is more than just a collection of tracks,” Lemmer explains. “It is a complete album world. I created the visual identity myself using original Polaroid photographs — skies, clouds, abstract light, double exposures, and self-portraits — to give the music a tactile, imperfect, and deeply personal visual language.”

The album opens with a serenely spacious atmospheric captivation, as “The Light That Carried Us Through” maneuvers through haunting synths that exude an airy, introspective quality. Finding a balance between solemnity and shimmering intrigue, the various caressing layers intertwine with enjoyable cohesion. Ensuing track “The Stillness of What Once Was” is more prominent in its various layers, especially through its elegant piano infusions. These calming keys combine with a similarly lulling backing synth pad, which maintains a subdued entrancement as the piano work expands between more effervescent emotion and beautiful subtlety.

Another impactful track, “Among the Stars We Fade” struts a late-night feeling in its magnetic synth work, reminding fondly of the most ambient, laid-back material from Boards Of Canada. The synths exude a spacey tonal appeal throughout, while its midpoint and conclusion echo a more reserved piano-touched quality. Elsewhere, “In the Quiet of What Was” unveils itself gorgeously, maintaining a cohesive balance of twinkling keys and otherworldly synth tones. It’s another showcase in atmospheric and melodic precision, on an album from Thomas Lemmer that consistently captivates.
