Versal – “Carrousel”

Touting a magical feel fit for a fairy tale, “Carrousel” is a highlight from Versal’s new eponymous album. Versal is the alias of Houston-based ambient/New Age musician/producer Javier Velez, who shows a knack for playful cinematic sounds, as evidenced by “Carrousel” and other tracks on the album. The carnival-like, spacious melody is gradually amplified by synths/keys that gain gradually in effervescence. Velez has long been involved with music, mastering multiple instruments (piano, organ, trumpet, trombone, and guitar -both electric/classical) by the time he was 17. Since then, beyond his work as a musician, he has went on to work on several films and documentaries, both as a composer and on the cinematic front — as an editor, colorist, and director of photography.
