Sister Castle Theater – “Rome”

/

“Rome” is the stirring debut single from Sister Castle Theater, the project of producer Tyler Tholl. Formerly of previously featured act Maple & Beech, Tholl shows a more intimate approach with this project. Soft vocals, lush piano, and acoustical adornments conjure an ethereal feeling reminiscent of The Clientele, to start. The lush, gliding piano addition to the alternating melody at 02:15 — “every iteration,” — is superbly interwoven, with caressing woodwinds in the back also adding nicely. The track concludes with a rousing vocal backing and bouncy series of keys, ending on a vibrant and optimistic-sounding tone. “Rome” is a heck of a debut from this project.

“Rome” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2020’ Spotify playlist.
