MatAre – “Gone Away For You”

/

“Gone Away For You” is an emotive synth-pop single from Atlanta-based artist MatAre, reflecting on sacrifices amidst a stirring synth-fronted rise. Elegant piano and sporadic synth buzzes craft a strong initial intrigue. Moodier vocal inflections and twangy guitars build to a more excitable synth build, culminating in the anthemic “sanctuary of loneliness,” catharsis.

Per the artist: “This song is about making great sacrifices for ones you love. Even if those sacrifices mean that you must give up being close to them as a result.”

Originally a dance music producer and DJ during the “Orlando Breaks” era, MatAre also created music under the alias Vibal. He also draws inspiration from his extensive travels across the United States and Europe. This current project impresses with “Gone Away For You,” and that compelling sound continues throughout MatAre’s new full-length, Patternicity, streaming below:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.
