Sunset Pig – “Everything Is Fake”

Sunset Pig - Everything Is Fake

Sunset Pig is a duo comprised of Jeremy Clymer and Andrew Ernst, who have been making music together for the past 12 years. During this time, they kept the majority of their work hidden from the public, until now. Their new EP, Everything Is Fake, was released on October 18th. The EP is full of effervescent production, such as the hybrid of lush classical orchestration and hip-hop percussion on the superb “I Go Numb” (feat. Will Foraker). Sunset Pig are not keen on live performing, but their studio wizardry is fully apparent. Few efforts show this better than the gorgeous self-titled track. “Everything Is Fake” seems to take place near a casino slot machine initially, with fervent dinging and clinking change. A chiptune-like arpeggio forms out of the fortuitous setting, which allows for warmly relaxed vocals to emerge. They reach beautiful heights as the instrumentation expands. The vocal delivery actually remind me of Arcade Fire’s Régine Chassagne at points, at least on “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)“. Either way, this is a stunner of a self-titled track. The Everything Is Fake EP should put Sunset Pig on the map toward success and recognition.
