Eli Shane – “Liaison”

//

A gorgeous, expanding folk sound shows on “Liaison,” the new single from Eli Shane, a New York-based harpist and composer. The release takes loose inspiration from a short story by Lydia Davis, and thematically captures a state of routine-driven claustrophobia, stuck in a loop of mundanity. Trickling plucks invigorate as cello, harp, and escalating vocals — lamenting that they’re “draining the life out of myself,” — thoroughly compel throughout the riveting single, which was written and produced by Shane, who also performs harp and sings. “Liaison” marks the first single from an upcoming EP, which we’re certainly now anticipating.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
