Snails – “Jennifer Jones”

Off Bristol-based expirimental pop group Snails’ debut LP, Safe in Silence, “Jennifer Jones is an excellent lead single with punchy Kinks-esque vocal cues, fleeting guitar lines, a bouncy psych-pop organ, and string flourishes. There’s a bit of an oddball psych-genius quality akin to Syd Barrett, especially with the orchestral additions toward the end, which recall ’70s psych-pop in the finest fashion. The album was just released a few days ago, produced with Ali Chant (Gruff Rhys, PJ Harvey) in Bristol. Additionally, the 5-piece band were hand-picked to support Teenage Fanclub at their Bristol show in September.
