Mookie Morris – “When It All Falls Down”

Toronto-based Mookie Morris’ laid-back retro style is tranquilizing, soulful, and airy. His vocals are reminiscent of a slightly toned-down Deerhunter in his latest single “Let It All Fall Down”. Here, Morris perfectly bridges the gap between dreamy and breezy summer guitar melodies (a la Little Joy) while infusing just a hint of a MMJ-esque autumnal twang. The combination is an auditory representation of the never-ending Indian summer the east coast seems to be stuck in, and it’s beautiful. The track ends with a short and glorious display of Morris’ vocal range. Morris will continue releasing singles; I can’t wait to hear what’s next.
