Danii Roundtree – “Crave”

Atlanta pop/soul/jazz artist Danii Roundtree shows a melodic, vintage charm on new track “Crave”, the debut single off her upcoming album Memoirs, out this summer. The album is written from true life events, literally a collection of her memoirs. “The sound has a throwback feel that is Jazz-oriented with Funk and Soul elements; cleverly coined as ‘Retro’,” she explains. “I hope to one day transition into acting, so I wrote the album as though it was a never-ending Retro movie soundtrack.” The Janelle Monáe route doesn’t sound too unrealistic in this case, considering the talent shown. This track, with its organ push and orchestral flourishes accompanying the entrancing vocals, does well in showcasing Roundtree’s talents.

She recently took the stage on May 28th to perform at the 40th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival, as well.
