Apartment X – “Young”

Apartment X are an unsigned act from Durham, North Carolina, featuring guitarist Quinn Scanlan and keyboardist/vocalist Pascual Di Tella. Mixing elements of alt-rock and dream-pop, their sound on impressive new track “Young” – off their self-titled debut EP – is one that’s lush and entrancing. Di Tella personally describes the act’s sound as if “Frank Ocean had more guitar.” The Postal Service, sans the electronic emphasis, also comes to mind as a comparison. The lush guitar work and sparse percussion speaks to both references, with the “I don’t wanna die young” repetition lending nicely to the quaint rock exterior.
