Canopies – “Getting Older”

Canopies music

Synth-rockers Canopies released another great track, “Getting Older”, this morning. Along with the excellent, previously-featured “Miss You Now“, it provides a glimpse at their upcoming full-length, out later this year. Here, the Milwaukee-based group continue to flex their powerful psych-infused electro-rock sound, marked by big-time choruses and spacey verses. “Getting Older” is no different. A swelling assortment of glistening synths, mellow gliding bass, and distant synth warbles comprise the initial 45-second instrumental intro. From there, it’s melodic goodness carried by sonorous vocals that capture the big-time spacey vibes of the synths. The added impact of guitar during the bridge to the second chorus is wonderfully done, as well.

Look out for Canopies’ new album later this year for similar gems. A recent interview with Frontier Psychiatrist is a good read if you want more in-depth info into their recording process and themes, including their well-executed homages to space exploration. In the meantime, you can grab the “Getting Older”/”Miss You Now” limited edition 7″ here.
