Katmaz – “For Now”

katmaz

Buffalo, NY native Matthew Kaz writes and produces under the name Katmaz, naming lovable pop oddballs like Beck and Damien Jurado as influences. His first solo album, Nautical Things, is out on April 22nd, and its opening track “For Now” shows what to anticipate. A hypnotic “you’re alright, you’re alright, for now” vocal hook is enhanced by glowing synths that fade in and out of focus, fluttering fully during a gorgeous bridge around 02:20. This is an upbeat, summery pop sound with an entrancing touch of psych-pop hypnotics.
