Pale Mara – “Where I Get My Way”

Pale Mara are a Brooklyn-based duo, whose excellent new track “Where I Get My Way” comes via their upcoming EP Votive, a 5-song compilation recorded on a reel-to-reel tape machine. With pop sensibilities and slight western-y twang, their stylistic approach reminds me fondly of Matthew Sweet, with the gorgeous male-female duet recalling Camera Obscura’s hook-y emotional aptitude. “There ain’t a world they say that doesn’t tarnish my faith”, the duo sings during the wholly effective hook, one of several great moments on this stellar track.
