Ivanna – “Disease”

On the moving opening track off their new album Leaving Town, “Disease”, Swedish acoustic rock/experimental pop group IVANNA shine a spotlight on the spirited and soaring vocals of Ludvig Sersam, as well as their exotic and moving acoustic-minded musical direction. Ivanna have existed since 2001, known as Dolly Daggers and/or The Modern Love. They evolved from ’80s-tinged rock to a more acoustic-focused act, “influenced by Fleetwood Mac, country and the ’90s pop punk scene.” This transition resulted in the newly named project. “Disease” shows the group’s unique, emotionally powerful sound — a combination of steady acoustics, soaring vocals, and exotic backing instrumental flourishes that make this act’s sound substantially more expansive than most acoustic-minded acts.
