Coughlin – “MY SIDE” (feat. Jason Lancaster)

New York-based artist Coughlin collaborates with Jason Lancaster on the powerful alt-rock duet “MY SIDE.” Fueled by swelling guitar distortion, pop-punk energy, and soaring hooks, the anthemic track delivers an emotionally honest, dual-perspective exploration of heartbreak, nostalgia, and relationship aftermath.

An enthusiastic vocal shout leads into thunderous guitar distortion and a frantic percussive drive as “MY SIDE” gets underway. “We walked in the bedroom, our clothes disappeared,” a punchy vocal presence emerges, escalating into a more fervent guitar assault that carries the track toward the “way that you act” bridge. The anthemic chorus ensues, where the “all those nights” vocal retrospections and “my heart died” laments resonate deeply alongside shimmering, punk-ready guitar chords and a dexterous rhythm section. “MY SIDE” shows no shortage of both heartfelt emotion and rock-ready invigoration.

“I tried to replace you but it’s not the same,” the vocals let out in the next series of verses, moving onto a sense of sorrowful reflection following the initial accounts of a connection-filled, affectionate night. “I saw you smiling in someone’s light,” the vocals push into another memorable switch-up, dazzling with more subdued guitar tones initially, before a sweltering return of warming distortion. The “even if it’s not with me” and “you drove the knife…” sentiments rouse thereafter with heart-on-sleeve prowess and multi-vocal interchanging. “MY SIDE” is a heavily impactful alt-rock success from Coughlin and Jason Lancaster.
