Kev Minney – “Dark Stars”

Brighton-based Kev Minney has attracted buzz for his work as a dexterous acoustic guitarist and calming vocal presence, and on new track “Dark Stars” he also shows a penchant for atmospheric beauty with heart-tugging strings and a gentle backing vocal accompaniment. Citing acts like Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell as influences, there’s no doubting that Minney creates entrancing and easily engaging songs with a somber, acoustical shadowing. His new album was created alongside Mercury-nominated producer Jag Jago; it will be released in the near future, along with four singles. The emotional and caressing “Dark Stars” is a great preview of that, and Minney’s acclaimed sound in general.
