Dutch duo The Wrong Reasons pair jangling guitars, brass accents, and sweeping strings on “The Night (We Saw Your Favorite Film),” a melodic indie-pop track balancing buoyant instrumentation with reflective songwriting. Longtime friends Jeroen Pelgrom and Roel Jorna continue their musical partnership ahead of an album due in January.
“The brassy resonance amidst the jangling guitar warmth reminds fondly of Parklife-era Blur, with a nice mix of jangly pop allure. The lyrical admissions of not even “knowing where to begin” in regards to fixing a mess resonates, pairing the memorable brass-touched melodics with lyrical authenticity. The “up to you to decide” string-laden injection compels further, as does the mix of strings and acoustics in the ensuing bridge. “The Night (We Saw Your Favorite Film)” is a lovely track from The Wrong Reasons.
