The Black Suns – “California Son”

California-based The Black Suns are a brand new act – formed a mere four months ago – who just released their first full-length, Night Shifts, this week. Self-produced and recorded on their own, the album is a very impressive showing of moody, melodically powerful rock with vintage psych-friendly charm. The release’s second track, “California Son”, showcases the act’s suave feel, with a bit of a western-y allure in the vocal presentation and bustling bass line. The trio have plenty of goodness on the new album, ranging from tripped-out instrumental “Quicksand” to the thickly reverberating “Dusty Estates” and trickling creepiness of “Moon Chant”, that can be streamed in full below:
