Kitchenette – “Trick Deck”

/

“Trick Deck” is a new track from Kitchenette, the Amsterdam-based act who impressed multiple times last year, with “Upon the Shoulders” and “Prison Break“. This one is equally successful, though pursues a darker and murkier feel, which alongside the vocal presence reminds me fondly of a more alternative-friendly vein of Echo & the Bunnymen. The hook, in particular – “even your love for me is gone,” – is particularly reminiscent, with haunting allure. The band describes the effort as “a song about a break-up, a relationship in which you thought that you’d stay together forever but got cheated on instead.” “Trick Deck” is another success from this consistent act.

“Trick Deck” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2018’ Spotify playlist.
