Multi-instrumentalist/DIY producer Jake Perreault crafts an intoxicating blend of rock and pop with his project Ugly Ghost. The Providence-based artist impresses significantly with new track “Text Me Back,” touting catchy pop melodies amidst a heavy funk-laden bass line and dazzling guitar work. Overall, the aesthetic reminds fondly of Unknown Mortal Orchestra with a more pop-centric focus. The soaring guitar solo close to the two-minute mark hits hard, generating substantial feels alongside Perreault’s yearning croon. “Text Me Back” is a surefire winner.
