East Bay-based duo Field Season, comprising conservation scientist and vocalist Nadya Ali and guitarist-producer Matt Lavin, pair shimmering guitar arrangements with airy melodies and understated percussion on new single “While It Lasts,” drawing from a shared interest in dream-pop and indie-pop songwriting.
Radiant guitar jangling and soft, pit-pattering percussion guide into Nadya’s soaring vocal dreaminess. “No direction, always in between. No decision, just doing what I need,” her vocals ring out, emanating with blissful entrancement in declaring “I could live this life in perpetuity.” Simultaneously smitten, appreciative, and aspiring for more in its thematic lyricism, the production continues to enamor at the spacious two-minute mark, where jangling guitar fluttering and an “I stay” vocal refrain meld enjoyably. “While It Lasts” is a serenely impactful dream-pop success from Field Season.
