Premiere: Dansson Rana – “Island Night”

/

Touting late-night electro-tinged pop vibes reminiscent of The xx and James Blake, “Island Night” is an atmospheric and melodic success we’re happy to premiere. The effort comes courtesy of Dansson Rana, who wrote the track during a breakup. “It’s veered between being a positive song and a negative song the whole time I’ve been working on it,” he says. “In fact as I was writing it (to begin with on the piano at my parents’ house) I would move it up and down between lighter and darker keys as I re-evaluated everything. It’s ended up a bit of a mixture of meditation and aggression – regret and contentment at the same time.” The track was mixed by Rana’s friend Alex Lindner, of Flood for the Famine. They’re presently at work on more material, which we’ll be anticipating with delight.

“Island Night” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2019’ Spotify playlist.
