Cool Baby – “Basketball”

/

Rainy-day jazz sounds and precise hip-hop flows converge on the track “Basketball,” a highlight off the new EP – Problem Child – from Cool Baby, an act from Takoma Park, MD. Lounge-friendly piano and a lush rhythm section accompany a vocal that’s precise with flow and ample on emotional conveyance, with the basketball metaphors working wonderfully from a lyrical perspective. The 01:15 creep of brass plays especially well.

The EP is well worth a listen:

“Basketball” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Hip-Hop and Rap.

  1. ‘Basketball’ is like sippin’ champagne while eating Nutella and honey in a hot tub full of bath oils.
‘Problem Child’ is when a ‘horny’ Mr Rock and Ms Rap have a cool Baby….
