Dream People – “Forever, Too Long”

/

“Forever, Too Long” rides on nocturnal synth pads and yearning vocals in establishing an intriguing atmospheric pull. The vocals retain a defeated sense of nonchalance, until a glimmer of effervescence emerges around 01:22, as the guitar and bass become less reluctant to emerge. The track, from Portuguese dream-pop quintet Dream People, explores themes of love and its frailty — particularly “how love should be lived day by day, moment by moment.” In its 5+-minute span, “Forever, Too Long” captivates with its melancholic, nocturnal soundscape — with the lead vocal’s yearning combining with lushly effective guitar, synths, and rhythm for a memorable melodic impact.

“Forever, Too Long” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.
