Miko Payton – “Recently”

“Recently” is a new track from Miko Payton, a hip-hop artist from Ohio. A lush, soulful vocal sample is aided by a melodic piano to comprise the beat, which is quickly accompanied by Payton’s infectious vocal flow. The confident lyrics mesh well with the floating-on-clouds feeling the beat exudes. 01:33 starts some successful, interesting production — with the track descending into a nocturnal, retrospective murkiness, with the percussive push at 01:57 showing Payton’s most infectiously ferocious delivery to date. “Recently” is engaging throughout its entire 02:30 runtime, from the initial melodic ease to the conclusion’s darker atmospheric pull. Check out more of Payton’s material via Spotify.

“Recently” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Hip-Hop and Rap.
