The Rhetorician – “The Session”

/

“The Session” is a captivating track released today from The Rhetorician, born and raised in the Greater Pittsburgh Region and now living in the Pacific Northwest. Smooth brass at 01:16 coincides with a serene vocal accompaniment, trending more toward R&B/soul. The next section features a lounge-y piano presence that plays infectiously alongside the precise hip-hop vocal flow. The production aspects on this track — from the subtly effective rhythm section to the glistening keys and seductive brass work — undoubtedly succeed. The Rhetorician’s impressive vocal approach combines with the stellar production of Buddy Hunter Gillam, a jazz musician and composer himself, to make “The Session” a great track.

“The Session” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Hip-Hop and Rap.
