Yawwn – “Gotta Wanna Get Somethin’ Goin'”

First impressing with their debut single “Partisan” a bit over a year ago, South West London five-piece YAWWN are back at it with another catchy slice of exuberant pop. “Gotta Wanna Get Somethin’ Goin'” is their second of three planned singles in the period of a month, with “New Life” released on April 19th and “Mantissa” out on May 17th. The band will be playing their first ever London headline show (at the Waiting Room in Stoke Newington on 5/18) to celebrate the releases. “Gotta Wanna Get Somethin’ Goin'” features wordless vocal enthusiasm and playful synths to start, with a vocal lead emerging shortly after (in a tone enjoyably reminiscent of Rivers Cuomo). The guitar additions and added synth lead just past the one-minute mark signals the start of something truly infectious, with various vocal layers and a vibrant showing of guitars and synths making for a considerably catchy success.

“Gotta Wanna Get Somethin’ Goin'” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.
