BatWhaleDragon – ‘Fount Everspring’ (album)

/

BatWhaleDragon is a lovely, atmospheric electronic project that impressed with the album Zoa Constrictor earlier this year. Now, BatWhaleDragon – the project of Kevin Focke – has another album out, the excellent Fount Everspring. Spanning 23 minutes and seven tracks, Fount Everspring is chock full of atmospheric goodness. “Landing At Arbory Harbour” is among the highlights, a track that builds gorgeously from quaint piano-laden pleasantries to buzzing synth-pop with infectious rhythms. It’s fondly reminiscent of Yellow Magic Orchestra, so it’s no surprise the track was inspired by Japanese synth-pop. Beyond this track, the album is full of quality efforts, with “The Meandering Mellow” and “High Spirits” among them.

“Landing At Arbory Harbour” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Lush Indie Electronic.
