Henry Black – “YGS”

//

Hailing from Medicine Lake, Montana, singer/songwriter Henry Black impresses with new track “YGS.” A rousing vocal presence adeptly transitions between suave beginnings and more soaring ambitions, kick-started by the rhythm section’s entry just before the 50-second mark. From here, the track grips and never lets go. Specifically, the pulsing excitement around 01:30 signals a series of exciting melodic and stylistic twists — alternating between rollicking rock and more understated, saloon-friendly jaunts. “YGS” is an excellent piece of songwriting and showing of stylistic versatility from the impressive Henry Black.

“YGS” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Folk-Rock.
