Mortimer – “Align”

Orange County-based songwriter/producer Skyler Garn fronts the project Mortimer, named after his dog Morty. New track “Align” delights with a mellow working of guitars and synths. Following the one-minute mark, soaring vocals emerge alongside a shimmering guitar line addition. A ruminating bass and swelling synth assemble over the two-minute mark, with the bright tonal pairing of the guitars, vocals, and synths converging again in cohesive form thereafter. Contemporary synth-fueled indie-pop meshes with ’80s guitar tones for an accessibly engaging track from Mortimer.

“Align” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2019’ Spotify playlist.
