Taipei – “The Birds”

Growing from quaint electro-acoustic sentiments to whirring exhilaration, “The Birds” is a consuming track from Taipei. The Finnish artist shows a mastery of engaging build-ups, teasing with various moments. 00:43 sees an expansion of crisper, soaring vocals, with spacey elegance building to a moving, anthemic vocal push at 01:24. A fluid synth lead and lively arpeggio are soon to follow. At points there’s an assumption of the track’s peak, when in reality there’s a constant pulsing of various peaks and enjoyably lush valleys — a testament to the playful, evolving feel. As such, “The Birds” grips from the get-go and never lets go with its evolving, cohesive structure and very melodic construction.

“The Birds” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Innovative Electronic Music.
