Cartography – “Sir Francis Drake”

//

“Sir Francis Drake” is a newly released track from Cartography, the solo project of New York-based artist Trevor Misplay. Crisp acoustics and bird chirping opens the track in inviting form, with the track building toward a soaring, gripping feel from here. The vocals exude a shimmering, psych-friendly quality amidst the tropical percussive vibes and lush acoustics. An “endless laughter,” bridge leads nicely into a jubilant, shining chorus that puts the artist’s songwriting talents on full display. The track’s mid-point is a patient foray into more textural psych-pop territory, capped off by a final minute with a shimmering likeness to the beginning. “Sir Francis Drake” is a fully enjoyable track from Cartography.

“Sir Francis Drake” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2019’ Spotify playlist.
