Premiere: NTHNL – “Make It Up” (feat. Caroline Kuhn)

/

“Make It Up” represents the second collaboration from producer NTHNL and vocalist Caroline Kuhn. NTHNL, the project of Brooklyn-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Jake Rudin, infuses a bossa nova feel amidst twinkling synths and vibrant vocals. Lyrically, the track is “about overcoming social anxiety to dance with a crush at the function.”

The track’s production is a great complement to Kuhn’s timeless vocal presence, reminiscent of Carole King. The vocals stretch out fully in moments like 01:40, where a hopping synth line builds gradually. “Make It Up” is a track we’re very happy to premiere, exuding synth-laden bossa nova feels with guitar flourishes and a great vocal lead.

“Make It Up” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2019’ Spotify playlist.
