The Hazy Seas – “Heavy Heads”

The first single from The Hazy Seas’ debut album, due in January, “Heavy Heads” rides on hazy vocals and gauzy, dreamy guitar tones. The vocals and rhythmic presence intensify just past 01:20, kick-starting a second half that converges the song’s various enjoyable aspects — the hypnotic guitar clanging, the emotive vocal presence, and sporadic percussive pulse. The Chicago-based four-piece looks to have a big 2020 ahead of them.

Per the band: “”Heavy Heads” is about making tough decisions and feeling lost while others look on at your life.” Regarding their sound, they cite influences such as “80’s new wave, early 2000’s NYC rock, and the dance punk of early acclaimed Foals.”

“Heavy Heads” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2019’ Spotify playlist.
