Aaron Joseph Russo – “Espresso”

/

Inspired by the Italian pop music that Aaron Joseph Russo grew up hearing in his house, “Espresso” is a lushly melodic success. Dreamy woodwind effects and serene synths combine with understated vocals, which show enjoyably yearning devastation for elongated words. Russo describes the track as “more direct and upfront than my previous stuff.” As such, it’s a shining example of Russo’s songwriting talents, with added clarity. After impressing with “Okay” in 2018, the Melbourne-based Russo again shows why his material deserves attention.

“Espresso” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
