Deperuse – “The Fifteenth Curse”

/

Talk about a memorable debut. The gorgeously dreamy “The Fifteenth Curse” is a smashing success from Canadian act Deperuse. Hypnotic, psych-friendly guitar tones weave around lush vocals, as synth flourishes add a spacey allure. A heady bass line around 01:05 signals a particularly memorable section — shades of early Interpol — with synth/guitar interplay around 02:45 also being a highlight. “The Fifteenth Curse” is certainly one of the year’s most exciting debut efforts, showing Deperuse as an act to follow.

“The Fifteenth Curse” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop and Shoegaze.
