Port Lucian – “Give It Up”

“Give It Up” is a sweepingly melodic dream-pop track from Port Lucian, the project of 19-year-old multi-instrumentalist Portia Maidment. The project began in 2017, releasing several singles that — along with the new “Give It Up” — affirm an artist with a talent for alluring soundscapes and melodic hooks. “Give It Up” sees bouncy, lush synths alongside subtly glistening guitars, with Maidment’s vocals leading engagingly. Port Lucian’s traversing into a more lo-fi synth-pop sound succeeds swimmingly here with “Give It Up.” I’m looking forward to hearing more from Maidment.

“Give It Up” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
