Richard Griffith – “Last Thoughts”

//

“Last Thoughts” is exemplary of Richard Griffith’s consuming sound, which incorporates lush electronic production with jazz-infused tones. This lovely track comes via Griffith’s debut album, Percepts. The UK-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer impresses throughout, and on this track shows a serenely evolving melodic pull. Jazzy keys and backing acoustics coalesce around Griffith’s smooth vocals. Production-wise, I’m reminded fondly of Caribou, circa Andorra, especially when the vocals ascend around 01:36. There’s a lushly organic nature to this blend of electronic, pop, and jazz tones — resulting in a success that feels very audibly alive, like “Last Thoughts.”

“Last Thoughts” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2020’ Spotify playlist.
