The Brush – “Squeeze & Turn”

/

The Brush had me smitten in February with the lovely track “Where,” reminding me strikingly of Talk Talk, one of my favorites. Los Angeles-based musician/filmmaker Aaron Alan Mitchell is back with another success, with the track “Squeeze & Turn.” This one touts hypnotic, resonating guitars and lush vocals, gearing more toward a psych-rock approach in the track’s rising moments. Verses tout a mellow piano-laden feel, seamlessly guiding into psych-friendly expansion. The Brush continues a super-hot start to 2020.

Squeeze & Turn features Aaron Alan Mitchell on keys, vox and guitar. Eli Thompson on bass (Father John Misty). Joey McClellan on guitar (Midlake, Elle King) and McKenzie Smith on drums (Midlake, St. Vincent). Recorded in California, Australia, and Texas. Mixed by McKenzie smith at Redwood Studio in Denton, TX.
