Blurred Mirror – “Living Fossils”

///

“Living Fossils” is a newly released track from Blurred Mirror, the Amsterdam-based project of Adrián Schäfer. Dreamy, seductive synths and tender guitars build to a chilled-out vocal presence to start, evolving with guitars that glisten and soar. Blurred Mirror notes influences like Skinshape and Dayglow, aesthetically, while also remarking that they wrote the track after reading Albert Camus — “so it’s quite existential.” The devastating guitar additions around 03:20 play with scorching seduction, capping off a track that rewards listeners with a consuming soundscape and intoxicating melodic pull. This is absolutely a project I’ll be following.

“Living Fossils” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
