Cap’n Marble – “Bed of Sun”

//

Out today from Cap’n Marble, “Bed of Sun” is a supremely melodic success with a lushly dazed psych-pop pull. Impressing earlier this year with the Come 2 California EP, the duo’s knack for hooks continues here, adorned with the most consuming aesthetic I’ve heard yet from them. Whereas EP efforts like the self-titled track echoed a brisker, surf-oriented direction, “Bed of Sun” plays more like a sunset-accompanied comedown. A serene organ-forward backing is continuous, as flickering guitar twangs and smooth vocals exude a melodic sharpness. 01:24 signals a lovely swaying series of guitars, contrasted nicely a minute later by guitars emitting a more jangly tone. “Bed of Sun” continues a very successful year for Cap’n Marble thus far.

“Bed of Sun” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
