Casual Male – “Don’t Want Me Around”

/

Catchy rocker “Don’t Want Me Around” is a stellar release from Casual Male. The track was co-produced with Abe Seiferth (Yeasayer, Neon Indian) at Transmitter Park Studios in Brooklyn. Described as a “breakup song for cruisin’ the summer months,” the track rides initially on suave, chugging verses. Gradual guitar trickles add nicely to the bass-heavy showing as the chorus approaches, culminating with anthemic glee around 01:22. “Don’t Want Me Around” succeeds with an easily memorable charm, showing a comfortably familiar song structure and considerably hooky melodic progression.

“Don’t Want Me Around” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
