Elephant Castle – “My Muse”

//

Firmly catching my ear in March with the very catchy track “Cool To Be Unhappy,” Elephant Castle returns with another melodic gem. “My Muse” ascends from psych-pop charm in the verses to a rousing guitar-fronted, anthemic pull. The two-minute mark kick-starts a rousing, rock-forward section that carries toward a riveting conclusion.

Los Angeles-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Phil Danyew, a touring member of Foster the People for the past six years, again impresses. Danyew writes the following: “‘My Muse’ was inspired by the sacred and addicting process of creating – the feeling that music and lyrics are channeled rather than entirely self-generated.”

“My Muse” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2020’ Spotify playlist.
