Grapefruit Sound Lab – “To Make You Mine”

/

New Jersey-based project Grapefruit Sound Lab meshes big, pulsing synths with ’80s-friendly guitar tones on catching new track “To Make You Mine.” Per the artist, the track is a song for “mourning life’s regrets and missed opportunities, for celebrating metamorphosis and rebirth, and for holding out hope for a brighter future,” — emphasized in the “before the sun goes down, before the break of dawn,” hook with the soulful vocal reflection from Amuka. The evolution throughout is enjoyable, growing from pulsing, house-friendly synths into a vocal section complemented by guitars. “To Make You Mine” shows savvy production and a strong melodic pull, elevated by both vocalists and stellar overall production.

“To Make You Mine” and other memorable tracks from July can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.
