The Yorks – “Only to Find”

//

The hypnotic, entrancing “Only to Find” is a stellar psych-rock cut from The Yorks, based in Los Angeles. The Yorks is presently the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Jorge Rodrigo Azanza, who was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. Growing up, he became enamored at an early age by acts like The Kinks, The Beatles, and Prince. His musical passion escalated even further as a college student in Los Angeles, taking part in several bands. The Yorks was formed in 2012, releasing their first self-titled EP in 2017. Now, with the project as a solo endeavor, Azanza will releasing the Purple Sunsets EP. “Only to Find” is reason to get excited for the release. Dreamy vocals and lushly developing bass/guitar interplay casts an authentic psychedelic charm, timeless in its sweeping majesty. 01:40 — with its “ooh-la-la,” vocal additives and escalating guitars — is an especially memorable moment. “Only to Find” has me anticipating Purple Sunsets, for sure.

“Only to Find” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2020’ Spotify playlist.
