Amari Mar + Jadin Shropshire – “Black Business”

/

A new collaborative track from New York-based artists Amari Mar and Jadin Shropshire, “Black Business” captivates with impressive flow and vital, although often overlooked, themes. Per Amari, the release “speaks on Black economics and building and obtaining wealth within the black community.” A string-laden, vintage-sounding beat engages throughout, influenced by golden age hip-hop and classic R&B. Both artists show well; the first half features Amari’s suaver scene-setting tone, while the second half unveils a more intense series of verses from Shropshire. The tonal contrasts play effectively over the repeating beat. “Black Business” is a successful showing from Amari Mar and Jadin Shropshire.

“Black Business will appear on Amari Mar’s upcoming album, out early 2021.

“Black Business” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Hip-Hop.
