From the newly released For Your Consideration full-length, “Bonnie & Clyde” is another highlight from Perfect Blue, the Chicago-based act who impressed previously with “Wicked” and “Guilty.”
The new album thoroughly impresses, from angsty howlers like “Laceration” to the more melodically accessible “Bonnie & Clyde,” which still sports its share of twists. The verses saunter with confidence and a brighter dream-poppy shimmer, contrasting effectively with a chilling, more ominous chorus. There, glistening keys add with menacing vocals for a standout effect. The haunting bridge around 01:20 also succeeds with its Halloween-friendly fervor. “Bonnie & Clyde” — along with the rest of For Your Consideration shows a consuming, melodic rock sound.
